In south Indian cinema, Sahadev Rao Tapkire is a well-known Marathi name. He worked as a makeup artist on a number of films, including the Tamil classic Chandralekha (1948), and his affiliation with Gemini Studio and filmmaker S.S. Vasan is noteworthy. Amazingly, his cinematic career began when Dadasaheb Phalke needed young children to star in his film Kaliya Mardan (1919). Kaliya Mardan (also known as The Childhood of Krishna) is a 1919 Indian silent film directed by Dadasaheb Phalke. It contains Marathi subtitles. Sahadeva Rao S. Tapkire is known for Zindagi(1964) ,Paigham(1959) ,Grahasti (1963) and Mr. Sampat(1952).
