Vijay Tendulkar

 


Vijay Dhondopant Tendulkar (6 January 1928 – 19 May 2008) was a well-known Marathi playwright, screenwriter, literary essayist, political journalist, and social commentator. Shantata! Court Chalu Aahe (1967), Ghshirm Kotwl (1972), and Sakhrm Binder (1973) are some of his most well-known works (1972). Tendulkar drew inspiration for many of his plays from real-life events or social upheavals that shed light on harsh realities. He has advised students in American universities who are studying "playwriting." For more than five decades, Tendulkar had been a powerful dramatist and theatre personality in Maharashtra.
